FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO I ORDER A CAKE FROM YOU ?
For wedding cakes we recommend that we have a DESIGN CONSULTATION and this way we can discuss all the important details. You can then place an order or take away a quote. The quote is valid for a month and during this time you can let us know by email if you want to proced with placing an order.
For celebration cakes you can place an order by email or by phone.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO ORDER ?
To ensure we give every cake our full love and attention we have a limited number of orders we take on each week. With that in mind we recommend that for wedding cakes you book your date with us as soon as possible, preferably at least 6-8 months in advance. Depending on our schedule, we will always try to accommodate bookings with shorter notice.
For celebration cakes, contact us to check availability as soon as possible. We will be happy to discuss your cake via email or phone.

HOW MUCH WILL MY CAKE COST ?
Prices will very much depend on the size of the cake, the style, flavour and final design.
For wedding cakes prices start from £440 for a three tier cake and £480 for a four tier cake .
Our celebration cakes prices start from £65 .

CAN I MAKE ANY CHANGES TO MY ORDER AFTER I BOOK ?
We are happy to make any amendments up to 6 weeks prior to the event date.
However please be aware that this may affect your due balance depending on the type of adjustments required.
DO I NEED TO PAY A DEPOSIT ?
For our wedding cakes we ask for a £100 deposit when booking . You will be given an invoice when placing your order and this needs to be paid within a week to secure your booking.
For celebration cakes we ask for a £25 deposit at time of booking and the remainder is due in cash upon collection of the cake .
We prefer bank transfer payments but we also accept cash and cheque . Unfortunately we can't take card payments or PayPal
DO YOU HIRE OUT CAKE STANDS ?
Here at Luca's Cakes we have a wide selection of cake stands for hire and they can be a perfect way to finish and display your cake. Please get in touch to enquire about the stand styles and colours we have.
Cake stands can be hired at £30 per stand plus a £100 security deposit per stand , which will be refunded once the stand is returned to us undamaged within 2 days of your wedding.
DO YOU DELIVER OR DO WE COLLECT THE CAKE ?
Due to the delicate nature of the sugar craft on our wedding cakes, we like to personally deliver and set up your cake at your venue. We will liaise directly with your wedding coordinator at your venue to arrange this so it’s one less thing for you to think about! The set up is free of charge and the delivery is charged at 50p per return mile from our studio in Colchester . Some cakes may be suitable for collection which can be discussed at the point of ordering.
Celebration cakes will be available for collection at our studio in TURNER ROAD, Colchester, Essex. Delivery can be arranged for a delivery charge of 50p per return mile .

All of our regular cakes contain gluten, eggs and may contain traces of nuts.
We are able to make gluten free cakes for customers with a gluten intolerance but not a gluten allergy as our kitchen is not a certified allergy free work space.
We do not cater for eggless, dairy free or vegan diets.
IS YOUR BUSINESS REGISTERED AND DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE ?
Our business is fully registered with Colchester Borough Council and The Environmental Health Agency. We are very proud to have been awarded 5 STAR HYGINE RATING on our last inspection.
We hold full Public and Liability Insurance.
